    Phil Healy Chicago

    Senior Analyst, Renewable Energy

Phil Healy of Chicago is a senior analyst with a background in accounting, tax consulting, and international finance. Growing up in a bilingual household with a Brazilian mother and an American father, he became fluent in English, French, and Portuguese. His diverse upbringing has contributed to his ability to work across cultures and communicate effectively in complex professional settings.

    Academic Journey and Extracurricular Life

Phil attended the University of Notre Dame from 2014 to 2018, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. He also pursued a second major in French. While at Notre Dame, he was involved with the student radio station WVFI, the squash club, and volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club of St. Joseph County. These experiences helped him build communication skills and a sense of teamwork early in life.

After completing his undergraduate degree, he stayed at Notre Dame to earn a Master’s degree in Accountancy from the Mendoza College of Business. With a concentration in Tax Services, this program strengthened his foundation in corporate compliance and state-level tax law.

    Starting in Multistate Tax

Phil began his professional career in 2019 at Deloitte Tax in Chicago. As a tax consultant in the Multistate Tax Services division, he worked on corporate and partnership tax filings. His focus included the technical review of state tax returns, estimated payments, and investor-related tax documentation.

By 2021, he had been promoted to Senior Tax Consultant. In this position, he supervised junior consultants, managed engagement workflows, and worked closely with client controllers and Deloitte’s internal tax preparation teams. His time at Deloitte sharpened his skills in tax planning, compliance, and the application of state tax codes in real-world scenarios.

    Transition to Fund-Level Financial Operations

Phil moved into the private equity space in 2021, joining GCM Grosvenor as a fund finance analyst. In this role, he was responsible for maintaining ledgers, reviewing financial statements, and reconciling daily and quarterly cash activity for private equity funds.

He also reviewed capital calls, distributions, and expense accruals. His role included supporting co-investment partners and working with internal teams such as legal, tax, and treasury. This transition provided him with hands-on experience in investment accounting and exposure to fund structure operations.

    Expanding into Global Finance

In early 2023, Phil Healy of Chicago took on a senior analyst role at Invenergy LLC, where he focused on international finance operations. His work centered on budgeting, forecasting cash flows, and supporting international renewable energy projects. He collaborated with teams across different countries to update forecasts and manage variances.

In addition to project-level work, he helped coordinate internal financial activities like intercompany loans, dividend payments, and capitalizations. He also supported strategic transactions, including joint ventures and acquisitions. Phil was tasked with aligning Invenergy’s U.S. financial systems with those of its international offices and began using the Bloomberg Terminal to prepare interest rates for loans.

    Community Work and Volunteerism

Service to others has remained a consistent part of Phil’s life. In high school, he volunteered at Gilda’s Club of Chicago, a support organization for cancer patients and their families. During college, he continued volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in Indiana.

Between his junior and senior years, he chose to volunteer full-time at the L’Arche Center in Forest Park, Illinois, instead of pursuing a traditional internship. There, he worked with adults with intellectual disabilities in a supportive community setting. He later became involved with the Brave Space Alliance, a Chicago-based LGBTQ+ organization that offers resources to underserved communities.

    Interests and Everyday Life

Outside of work, Phil is a longtime supporter of Chicago’s major sports teams, including the Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Blackhawks. He is also a dedicated fan of the Brazilian national soccer team, honoring his cultural heritage.

Phil has played piano since childhood and began producing music in high school. He has recently taken up learning guitar as a new creative outlet. He also shares his home with two cats, whose presence adds balance to his daily routine.

Phil Healy of Chicago continues to pursue a career rooted in precision, collaboration, and service. His combined experience in taxation, private equity, and international finance reflects a deliberate and thoughtful professional path, matched by his long-standing dedication to community engagement.
